Ordrupgaard Museum of Art

Prequlified competition to extend Ordrupgaard Museum of Art. The original building exhibits paintings of French and Danish artists a.o.;  Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir and Wilhelm Hammershøi. The extension was proposed under the existing buildings, which include an extension done by Zaha Hadid. Much effort was done to avoid the building taking more attention away from the beautiful 1916′s Villa and exhibition rooms – a very different approach than that of Hadid. Only a simple staircase and some minor rearrangements was done on the groundfloor, leading down to a new central space with additional galleries. Only an oculus, round skylight, is visible of this new addition in the garden.
